Marma Chikitsa (Therapy)

“Mriyatae asmin iti marma”

(There is a likelihood of death when marma points are inflicted)

Marma points are the junctions where two or more types of tissues meet. The divinity of Sanskrit explains the importance of these points as any infliction in the marma points result in a high possibility of death or serious damage to the body.

According to Ayurveda, there are 107 marma points (brain being the 108th marma). Ayurveda describes these points as the doorways to the person’s mind and soul. The major marma points correspond to the seven chakras of our body, while minors correspond to our torso and limbs.

According to Ayurveda, these points constantly radiate vital energies. But when there is a blockage in the path, it leads to an imbalance in the functioning of your body. Thus, Ayurveda developed a special treatment, known as the Marma Chikitsa for opening the blockages in the marma points.

The Ayurvedic treatment centers, by giving physical and psychological relaxation, open the blockages in the vital energy-releasing channels known as soothes and helps in curing problems like neurological disorders, paralysis, arthritis, and many other health problems.
